Pathways: A Poem

Today’s guest post comes from Janet, the Case Manager at our Pathways program. In her first post for the Calvary Comments blog, Janet shared her thoughts on what a day in the life of a case manager looks like. Today, she’s written an acrostic poem about some of the lessons she’s learned from the women at Pathways:

I have come to realize over the years that sometimes you have to look beyond what is “showing up” in front of you in order to get it – or understand it. When I think about the women at Pathways and all of what I have come to “see” in them, so much comes to mind:

Protectors wholeheartedly of their dignity, regardless of how they show up;

Assured and assertive sometimes, but faced by great challenges other times;

Troopers that walk in the cold and heat, rain or shine, tired or not;

Heavenly blessed, many of them tell me…and steadfast in that conviction;

Women who are mothers and daughters and sisters and aunties…regardless;

Always on the move, resourceful and resilient;

Youthful in their dancing and laughing and dreaming; so

Simple words or thoughts in no way would describe these courageous women.
