Calvary Women’s Services Receives $20,000 Donation from Metro Boomin
METRO BOOMIN BRINGS HIS ‘LESLIE JOANNE SINGLE MOMS ARE SUPERHEROES’ NATIONAL TOUR GRANT INITIATIVE TO THE 13TH STOP OF HIS ‘WE TRUST YOU TOUR’ WITH FUTURE IN WASHINGTON, D.C.
August was an exciting month for our team as Calvary Women’s Services received a $20,000 donation from GRAMMY®-nominated, diamond-certified producer and global superstar Metro Boomin. The donation, made in honor of Metro’s late mother, was also the 13th stop of his ‘We Trust You’ tour with Future.
The concert coincided with the 13th stop in Metro Boomin’s “Leslie Joanne Single Moms Are Superheroes” Tour Grant-Giving Program, where he has provided $20,000 in grants and concert tickets to selected non-profits who support single mothers in each city.
Our team went to a meet-and-greet with Metro ahead of the concert at Capital One Arena, where we received the donation.
“I was thrilled to accept this donation on behalf of Calvary Women’s Services, in honor of the late Leslie Joanne Wayne and all women who have experienced domestic violence,” said Kisha James, Chief Development Officer of Calvary Women’s Services. “It’s vital that survivors of violence have access to safe, stable housing and Calvary is proud to offer those programs to hundreds of women each year.”
“This generous donation will enable us to continue offering housing, health, education, and employment programs to women who have experienced homelessness and violence, ensuring they have the tools to transform their lives and break the cycle of violence,” she continued.
Afterward, our staff enjoyed the show and celebrated the recognition together. Metro and Future performed hits like “Like That” and “Type Shit” from their #1 Billboard 200 album, “We Don’t Trust You”, which went #1 on Apple Music in over 80 countries and was the most streamed album in a single day of 2024.
The grant program launched in Kansas City and has also benefited organizations in Saint Paul, Detroit, Atlanta, Toronto, Boston, Philadelphia, and New York. Fellow recipients include Essential Families, Jeremiah Foundation, Alternatives for Girls, Atlanta Mission, Solomon’s Temple, YWCA Toronto, EMpath, Women Against Abuse, and Grace Institute.
The ‘Single Moms Are Superheroes’ initiative launched in 2017 focused on hosting annual give-back events and activations. In December of 2023, Metro partnered with St. Louis-based non-profit organization RUNG for Women and presenting sponsor Amazon Access to launch his grant-giving program within the initiative in honor of his late mother, Leslie Joanne.
Thank you to Metro Boomin for his generous support of Calvary Women’s Services and women experiencing homelessness and violence!
