Meet the Team: Petrina Williams

“I have the honor and privilege of providing support to women during life’s most difficult moments, while helping them tap into their own inner resources to effect positive change.”

Petrina Williams shares how her role as a clinical psychotherapist and licensed social worker at Calvary Women’s Services has had a large impact on the lives of women in our programs. She joined our team two and a half years ago when Calvary expanded our mental health services as a part of our comprehensive housing, health, education, and employment programs.

“I am passionate about helping folks and seeing their lives get better,” she shared recently. “Social work focuses on helping individuals, families, and communities overcome challenges and improve their well-being.”

Petrina’s primary responsibility is providing individual and group therapy to women in Calvary’s transitional and permanent supportive housing programs as they work toward their mental health and wellness goals. She works with both the women and their case managers to schedule sessions and ensure each client has the support she needs to work on and maintain her mental wellness.

When asked about her favorite part of her time at Calvary, Petrina noted that she’s glad for “the privilege of witnessing [women’s’] resilience and strength in the face of adversity.” She added, “The process of empowerment and transformation [clients go through] is incredibly fulfilling and serves as a source of inspiration and fuels my passion for this [role].”

“I find the social work profession deeply rewarding and inspiring,” she reflected warmly about her role.

In light of Mental Health Awareness Month in May, Petrina reflected on how many people still face stigma and discrimination surrounding mental health conditions. She believes that this is a time to come together as a community to support one another, raise awareness, and take action to promote mental health and well-being for all.

You can support our mission and ensure more women have access to the services they need to end their homelessness for good year-round by making a donation here.
