Curious for some cold, hard facts about Calvary Women’s Services and the women who come to our doors? Here’s a look at Calvary, by numbers:
Who comes to Calvary Women’s Services?
- Residents are 90% African-American.
- 70% of women are between the ages of 31 and 50.
- 65% of have at least a high school diploma.
- 25% have a mental illness, 20% suffer from substance addiction, and 55% have a dual diagnosis of both.
How do women use Calvary’s programs to make positive changes in their lives? In the last year…
- 89% of the women at our Pathways program built new skills through our Life Skills educational programs.
- 75% of the women at our Calvary Women’s Shelter program actively engaged in mental health services, addressing both mental illnesses and histories of domestic violence.
- 64% of all women at Calvary accessed addiction recovery services.
- 61% of all women at Calvary engaged in medical services to stabilize their health.
What impact can donors have? Donations in these amounts can provide the following for one woman at Calvary:
- $50 for a night of safe housing, nutritious meals and comprehensive support services.
- $75 for a month of nutritious meals.
- $250 to provide an entire year of mental health services.
- $1,000 for one on one support from a case manager for a full year.
What impact do volunteers have?
- In 2010, over $70,000 worth of in-kind goods were donated by supporters.
- Volunteers provided over 10,000 hours of their time in direct services and pro bono support to Calvary in 2010.
What impact does Calvary have?
- Last year Calvary provided over 15,000 nights of safe housing and over 20,000 nutritious meals to women in our community.
- Every 5 days a woman moves from Calvary into her own home.
