How to Support Calvary in October

Calvary Women’s Services has numerous opportunities for you and your loved ones to make an impact in the lives of women experiencing homelessness this October as we honor Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Scroll below and take action to support our community today!

DONATE TO HONOR SURVIVORS

In honor of Domestic Violence Awareness Month (DVAM), Calvary invites you to make a gift to empower women who are working to end their homelessness after experiencing domestic violence (DV). There are two ways for you to give:

Join Calvary at the 2024 In This Together Community Walk on Saturday, October 5th at 10AM. Together, we’ll celebrate the achievements of women in our community and show our commitment to those experiencing homelessness and DV! Registration is available by clicking here.

Can’t make it to the walk? You can make a donation to our Community Walk fundraising page in honor of a loved one who has experienced DV. We’ll write their name (or initials) on a heart to show how our community stands together to support survivors.

RECOGNIZE PUPRLE THURSDAY

Every year, Calvary honors Purple Thursday, a national campaign to show support for DV survivors. We invite you to wear purple on Thursday, October 17th to stand with survivors in our community and raise awareness for DV prevention.

You can take photos with your friends, family, colleagues, and classmates and tag Calvary on social media!

SIGN UP TO BECOME A MEAL VOLUNTEER

Did you know that Calvary relies on volunteers to provide nutritious meals to women in our programs each month? These meals are crucial to our mission, ensuring that women can focus on transforming their lives while enjoying delicious, healthy food. Our transitional housing sites (Reach Up, New Foundations, and Good Hope) are in need of one-time meal drop-offs and reoccurring volunteers to provide meals this October.

This is a great activity for your family, friends, coworkers, or congregation! You can learn more about our meal volunteer program here and contact Sarah Cannington (scannington@calvaryservices.org) for more information.

DONATE THROUGH OUR AMAZON WISHLIST

Each woman who moves into our programs receives new, essential items to meet her immediate needs. These include sheets, towels, deodorant, body wash, and other must-haves. To ensure we are able to offer women a warm welcome, we ask supporters to donate these goods through our Amazon Wishlist. Our most in-demand items this month are sheets, towels, and shampoo.

You can give women a fresh start by clicking here.

WATCH THE PATH TO HOPE VIDEO

Path to Hope is Calvary’s latest short-film, which details three women’s journeys through our housing, health, education and employment programs. Farhana, a former Calvary resident, also shares her experience overcoming domestic violence in this inspiring video. Click here to watch Path to Hope.
