Meet Our New Case Manager
We’re so pleased to announce our newest staff member, Sheryl, to you on the blog today! Sheryl joined Calvary Women’s Services last month as a case manager. Our case managers work closely with the women at Calvary, creating a personalized approach for each woman and supporting her as she makes lasting changes in her life. Get to know Sheryl below!
Tell us a little about yourself!
I’m originally from Newark, NJ, but have lived in the greater Washington area since 1994. Prior to working in social services, I worked as a Verizon representative for 25 years.
My biggest hobby is sports! My favorites are tennis, softball, golf, and skiing. I’ve participated in the Marine Corps Marathon and the AIDSRide.
I also enjoy mentoring (I’m a member of Delta Sigma Theta and am involved in Mentors, Inc.) and baking pies. In fact, I love pie-baking so much that I own my own pie company! My signatures are sweet potato pie and sweet potato cheesecake with caramel and pecans.
How did you first get involved with Calvary?
I worked as a part-time program manager for Calvary in 2009, and continued to refer women to Calvary as a case manager at another agency. It’s great to be back!
What’s your favorite thing about working at Calvary so far?
Working one-on-one with the women here is so gratifying, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to develop relationships with them. Working with women is a strength of mine, and I love building relationships with the women at Calvary.
A close second are the cookies I often find in the staff lounge. Yum!
