A Special Gift from the Heart of CAbi Foundation, an Evening of Pampering, and a New Program

Last night there was a special event at Calvary to celebrate an extraordinary donation. The Heart of CAbi Foundation chose Calvary as one of five winners nationwide for their spring Mother’s Day Clothing Give Away – a gift of 150 items of brand new business-casual clothing!

The Heart of CAbi Foundation, in partnership with CAbi, LLC, works to fulfill the mission of encouraging and empowering women in need due to a crisis or other life circumstances, through the gifts of clothing, financial support, and volunteer efforts. The new clothing will be used in conjunction with a job readiness and interview skills course – but last night, the distribution of the items was all about the excitement of new outfits and a little bit of pampering.

Each woman at Calvary received several items out of the donation of dress pants, tops, sweaters, jackets and scarves. The evening also included makeovers and hair styling – and photo portraits done by an expert photographer.

Professional clothing can go a long way in a woman’s job search. The gift of new clothing isn’t just noteworthy for the purpose of dressing for job searching and interviews – it’s a gift of feeling more prepared for that search and interview.

Waiting for her burgundy-red nails to dry, Tamela Smith reflected, “When you get your hair and nails done, all the little things we’re doing tonight, it gives you confidence. People who go through a lot of things, they need that boost.”

Tamela was also looking forward to the job readiness and interview skills course. “Me, I get nervous when I go to interviews. So I think a class like that is good.”

As Calvary has grown into our new building, we’ve been thrilled to offer many new programs and opportunities to the women we serve. Thanks to the Heart of CAbi Foundation for being a part of our growth!
